Por su pretensión de verdad forma parte de la historiografía, pero también, en cuanto relato de los episodios centrales de la vida de un individuo no puede separarse de las configuraciones literarias con las que se presenta como escritura y de hecho, se trata probablemente del tipo de texto que más se escribe. Desde políticos a deportistas, científicos, artistas, gángsters, etc., las biografías se multiplican exponencialmente en los estantes de las librerías y bibliotecas. A esto se agrega el fenómeno de las biografías en medios como Wikipedia. Desde una perspectiva histórica, el género fue considerado durante mucho tiempo como un campo marginal y no digno de la academia y esto tanto para la historia social como para el marxismo, la historia estructural, la antropología histórica y otras perspectivas. La biografía quedó desacreditada paradójicamente junto al abandono de los "grandes relatos" (Lyotard). Estos últimos, vinculados a la idea de progreso en sus distintas versiones, propia de las filosofías de la historia decimonónicas acerca del curso de la evolución humana en general. A la biografía, por el contrario, se la asociaba (en forma unilateral por cierto) a una concepción de la historia que ponía el acento en el individuo aislado de su contexto social y político. Recién en los últimos años ha sido rescatada por la microhistoria, si bien en un formato en parte diferente. Si bien los últimos años, en el ámbito de los estudios literarios las investigaciones acerca del campo biográfico a pesar de que no pueden equipararse al de otros géneros literarios considerados canónicos, han cobrado un nuevo auge que se ha materializado en una serie de publicaciones importantes, sigue presente la necesidad de dilucidar diversos aún poco explorados. Desde la perspectiva filosófica el tema debe ser retomado a partir de los trabajos de Dilthey -él mismo, autor de biografías-, que vio en ella y particularmente en la autobiografía un paradigma de la escritura histórica. Pero el pasaje de la narración en primera persona a la escritura en tercera persona apenas fue abordado en sus trabajos. Por otra parte, el concepto de "identidad narrativa" diseñado por Paul Ricoeur no ha sido estudiado en lo que atañe a la configuración de la escritura biográfica. El significativo título del libro editado por Hans Renders y de David Veltman dedicado a la biografía: _Fear of Theory_ (Brill, 2021) no ha perdido vigencia. No podemos dejar de mencionar el papel que la biografía desempeña en el campo del psicoanálisis. Tanto desde el punto de vista de su reconstrucción como para la autocomprensión del sujeto. La propuesta consiste en un abordaje multidisciplinario de un tema que trasciende los límites de las disciplinas canónicas tradicionalmente establecidas. A pesar del surgimiento relativamente reciente de sociedades internacionales y de publicaciones periódicas dedicadas al tema, la biografía sigue siendo un campo ávido de reflexión e investigación teórica. Because of its claim to truth, it is part of historiography, but also, as an account of the central episodes of an individual's life, it cannot be separated from the literary configurations in which it is presented as writing and, in fact, it is probably the most frequently written type of text. From politicians to sportsmen, scientists, artists, gangsters, etc., biographies are multiplying exponentially on the shelves of bookstores and libraries. Added to this is the phenomenon of biographies in media such as Wikipedia. From a historical perspective, the genre was long considered a marginal field and not worthy of the academy, and this for social history as well as for Marxism, structural history, historical anthropology and other perspectives. Biography was paradoxically discredited along with the abandonment of the "grand narratives" (Lyotard). The latter, linked to the idea of progress in its different versions, typical of the nineteenth-century philosophies of history about the course of human evolution in general. Biography, on the other hand, was associated (unilaterally, by the way) with a conception of history that emphasized the individual in isolation from his or her social and political context. It is only in recent years that it has been rescued by microhistory, albeit in a partly different format. Although in recent years, in the field of literary studies, research on the biographical field has taken on a new boom that has materialized in a series of important publications, even though it cannot be compared to other literary genres considered canonical. There is still a need to elucidate various aspects that are yet little explored.
